Without Implants - REMOVABLE PARTIAL DENTURES
Missing teeth may be replaced using a removable partial denture (shown above) which gains support both from the remaining natural dentition and from the oral tissues adjacent to the teeth. They have the advantage of being a cost effective way to replace a number of missing teeth. The flange of the prosthesis (made of a pink resin) esthetically replaces the tissue lost following years of resorption.
Removable partial dentures are many times used as an interim prosthesis during the time required for bone to attach to dental implants prior to their use in the placement of a fixed bridge. They may be made of a combination of metal and resin or completely resin.
Unfortunately, the use of a removable partial denture does not stop the continued loss of bone that always occurs following the loss of the teeth.
