With Implants - SPARK-EROSION IMPLANT RETAINED OVERDENTURE
Spark erosion refers to the technology that is used to fabricate a bar within a denture which
is attached with a very intimate fit to a metal substructure. Only two or three laboratories
have the equipment necessary to fabricate this type of restoration. It is a removable
prosthesis that is extremely stable when latched in place. It has the advantage that it may
be unlatched and removed by the patient to allows ease of access for cleaning.
Another advantage of a spark erosion type of prosthesis, is that like a conventional snap on
overdenture, it has a gum colored flange that looks like the tissues of the mouth and fills in
areas where a significant amount of bone and gum tissue have been lost.
