Worn And Decayed Teeth With A Collapsed Bite Diagnostic Wax Design Models
COMPLETE MOUTH RESTORATION (Diagnostic Procedures)
Some patients have extensive damage to many or all of their teeth, resulting in the collapse of their bite with subsequent loss of chewing function and facial support. Restoration of these situations requires careful planning to allow for an optimal result. Following a thorough examination, diagnostic casts (models) of the teeth are fabricated. Using these models, our technicians follow a detailed prescription from our office to fabricate a wax "design" model (shown above) which is used as a guide for the restoration of the dentition, and to give the patient an idea of what is possible final result. This model is similar to the work that an architect uses in designing a building. The wax "design" model is also used to fabricate temporary crowns (see next page) for use as a trial of the esthetic and functional plan prior to the fabrication of the final crowns.
